More about Shaun
Shaun McNally has over 5,000 hours of public teaching experience and 4,000 hours of formal Yoga training, including a Level 1 Yoga Therapy certification and a 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT). Over the past decade, she has taught at leading studios in Los Angeles, such as Soho Yoga, Sweat Yoga, Astro Gong Yoga, Child's Pose LA, and The Humbled Body. In addition to her teaching, Shaun volunteers with Homeboy Industries and Prison Yoga + Meditation, offering trauma-informed Yoga to underserved communities, including unhoused and incarcerated individuals.
Raised in the small town of Grafton, Massachusetts, Shaun grew up with two brothers and surrounded by beloved pets. Her early years were filled with a love for theatre, dance, faeries, music and an insatiable curiosity for learning. She found joy in reading and studying anything that sparked her imagination, eventually leading her to Yoga.
Her Yoga journey began in high school and expanded while studying theatre at the University of Vermont. After completing her 200-hour teacher training, she pursued advanced education, earning a Master of Arts in Yoga Studies from Loyola Marymount University in 2019. Her studies included extensive coursework in classical yogic texts, Sanskrit, Samkhya, anatomy and physiology, Buddhism, Jainism, and a two-month immersive experience in India.
Driven by a deep passion for Yoga philosophy, Shaun is dedicated to honoring the authentic traditions of Yoga far beyond its physical aspects. She approaches teaching as a means to preserve and transmit the wisdom of ancient practices while empowering students to explore the rich spiritual and philosophical dimensions of Yoga. Shaun also encourages her students to use Yoga to remember and regain their sovereignty and personal freedom, fostering a sense of autonomy in their practice and lives.
Currently, Shaun is enrolled in eCornell's Plant Medicine Course, furthering her expertise in holistic healing. As a 500-hour E-RYT and Reiki Master, she integrates her knowledge of Yogic philosophy, Tibetan Buddhism, dream Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and Tantra into her teaching. Her classes and workshops are known for their inclusivity, depth, and transformative potential, offering students a unique blend of ancient wisdom and modern practice.
